BLAK ROC.

In 1986, Run DMC and Aerosmith united, created a tidal wave that would wash the world over, and taught us all how to ‘Walk this Way’. POW!! Hip-hop was catapulted into the mainstream like never before. An all too important bridge between two vastly popular musical genres had been established, and the birth of ‘rock rap’ later ensued.

Literally breaking down walls, the monumental ‘Walk This Way’ laid the necessary foundations for today’s ever popular culture clash of rock and hip-hop.  The last 20 years have seen The Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, Jay-Z, Linkin Park, and DJs and producers the world over experience huge success from mashing the two together.

The cross genre’s latest manifestation comes in the form of Blak Roc - the brainchild of Ohio blues-rock crooners The Black Keys, and hip-hop mogul and former Roc-A-Fella top dog Dame Dash (welcome back DD, good to see the whole Victoria Beckham link-up didn’t totally ruin your career). The album is set to drop Friday 27th November, and boasts a super line up of hip-hop's finest: Mos Def, Q-Tip, Jim Jones, Ludacris, Raekwon, RZA, Pharoahe Monch, M.O.P’s Billy Danze and O.D.B to name but a few. All rhyming over music recorded by The Black Keys.

Here’s a little teaser to whet your appetite. Head over to www.blakroc.com to check out more videos, as well as some stellar photography documenting the production stages of the project.
