GLASTONBURY STEEZ.

This year, the world's largest open air music and performing arts festival - Glastonbury - celebrated its mammoth 40th birthday on 23rd-28th June. And it just so happened to be my first visit to Worthy Farm. Unlike previous years, there was no rain. Instead of wading and sloshing through perilous mud slicks, thousands and thousands of festival goers were reaching for the sun cream (or not and getting burnt like meat on BBQ). I got crazy tanned.

I'll leave the ubiquitous reviews and recaps of the various acts performing at the festival to others. What I can tell you is the absolute highlights were, in no particular order: Quantic y su Combo Barbaro, Brother Ali, Dam Funk, Bonobo, Gorillaz (bringing onstage everyone from De La Soul, Kano, Bashy, to Little Dragon, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Bobby Womack, Snoop and more - no Mos Def though), Snoop Dogg and the legendary, legendary Stevie Wonder. In all my years of going to gigs and shows, I've never seen a crowd so massive radiate as much love as they did for Stevie. I danced and sang like an idiot.

Some assorted snaps from the week at Glastonbury:

The first of many hippies. Looks comfy.

Tipi field. We had a sneaky peek inside one that had its flap open and they look seriously cosy inside. These are the way forward.

Tree is watching.

Altogether now: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Rama Rama, Hare Hare etc.

These little clay figures were nuts.

The famous Pyramid Stage.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, as well as appearing on stage with Gorillaz, played two slots themselves. They are uh-mazing. This was at the Club Dada tent, which we got to after hustling through thousands of people high off their faces on the way to Shangri La. And then on our way back to the campsite, we hustled through the heaving, rabid masses to get to the exit of the area, only to be told by a mountain of a security man that we had to go back through the hell we'd emerged from to get out. Needless to say I murked him.

Happy 40th Glasto!

The Park Stage (created just 5 or so years ago by Emily Eavis and by far my favourite part of the festival site). This was Laura Marling.

Ellie's loving it.

DUSTY.
