MOS DEF ON JOOLS HOLLAND.
A couple weeks back we were blessed to see Mos Def perform live at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire. The majority of the hour-long set was enthused with cuts from the rappers 2009 release, ‘The Ecstatic’ with fleeting, yet memorable inclusions of tracks from his earlier albums.
One of the show’s highlights came when Mos performed a live rendition of ‘Quiet Dog Bite Hard’ – positioning himself behind a drum-kit the Brooklynite proceeded to unleash a rapturous rhythm while simultaneously rapping over his own beat, switching up tempos and rhyme patterns effortlessly. Charismatic and enthralling it was a performance I will never forget.
Check out this clip from Friday’s Later…With Jools Holland show in which Mos recreates the Quiet Dog performance fans witnessed at Shepherds Bush in April.
Also check out the Gorillaz performing ‘Stylo’ from the same show, featuring Mos Def and Bobby Womack.
