THE EVE OF INCEPTION.

Tomorrow sees the general release of Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated sci-fi thriller Inception - the movie film critics are deeming “The film The Matrix wishes it was” - and though I’d be first in line to defend my beloved Matrix movies, from the 3 enticing trailers and the increasing assembly of glowing appraisals, Inception looks like it will live up to the hype.

Let's face it. When it comes to big budget Hollywood movies there have been a lot of disappointments in recent years, films which have created such an enormous buzz, offering so much promise and splendour but have fallen short leaving a bitter taste of resentment and frustration in the average movie goer. And though there have been some absolute gems (Avatar and Nolan’s previous work of art The Dark Knight springs to mind) no film has really stretched the imagination of the viewer to the extent or sheer magnitude that The Matrix achieved. A movie that was so original, so entertaining, so unequivocally COOL, its legacy and impact upon the world of cinema should never be forgotten.

In the build up to Inception’s release I’ve dangerously allowed myself to be drawn into the massive hype surrounding the film. Earlier today my good buddy Lun sent me the link for Inception: The Cobol Job - a short online comic book, which serves as a prequel to the movie. Recruiting the visual talents of the esteemed comic book studio Udon Entertainment (Street Fighter, Rival Schools) this serves as a perfect appetizer for Nolan’s grandiose sci-fi adventure.
