THE FAMILY SIGN
Rhymesayers duo Atmosphere announces new long player
Back in September, Minneap duo and Rhymesayers dons Atmosphere released a double EP gloriously entitled ‘To All My Friends, Blood Makes The Blade Holy: The Atmosphere EPs’. It was a killer selection of 12 tracks – pretty much a full length album in itself – to keep fans going until they dropped their highly anticipated 7th studio album.
Well, 6 months have passed, and Slug & Ant finally release news of their next long player. It’s called ‘The Family Sign’, and drops on Rhymesayers on April 12th. Here’s the album art:
And the tracklisting:
1. My Key
2. The Last to Say
3. Became
4. Just For Show
5. She’s Enough
6. Bad Bad Daddy
7. Millenium Dodo
8. Who I’ll Never Be
9. I Don’t Need Brighter Days
10. Ain’t Nobody
11. Your Name Here
12. If You Can Save Me Now
13. Something So
14. My Notes
To say we’re looking forward to this record over here at Brainer is, how do I put it, a monumental understatement. The fact that ‘The Family Sign’ is probably going to sound nothing like ‘To All My Friends’ (or any of their previous material, for that matter) just adds to the hype. Whether it tops my number 1 Atmosphere album (‘You Can’t Imagine How Much Fun We’re Having’) remains to be seen. But, I’m totally ready for my expectations to be toppled.
So, that’s April’s Record of the Month sorted then. Just kidding. Maybe a little. Not really.
More info on ‘The Family Sign’ over at Rhymesayers, who continue to operate without compromise, releasing some of the dopest hip-hop to hit your earholes in the process. Blueprint, Evidence and Atmos all dropping records in 2011? Boom, I think, is the word.
Here’s the video for ‘The Best Day’ from ‘To All My Friends’ just for the hell of it.
