Two of contemporary deebee’s intelligent spinsters re-ignite an era of musicality within the ethos of ‘Autonomic’ - by championing music that sounds nothing like standard club d’n’b at all. As a piece of beautifully crafted mixing and futuristic productions, it works perfectly, demanding a second inquisitive listen.

Both concept album and obscure compilation (mostly Exit records and Instra:mental’s Nonplus+ recordings) offering ’music’ from Alex Perez, Riya and Vaccine among others, it also features specially penned ditties by Scuba, Distance and Genotype. It’s a hybrid of ambient electronica, slow pulsing A.I-era Warp, and subtle percussive ticks, almost akin to a mutant form of deep techno.

Very brave - but in 2010, change is due. Dubstep did it, so where will this sound go? As the mix unfolds, the beats do too - hopefully it will be enough to drag deebee out of the repetitive quagmire, and offer the heads something new to chew on.
