SCIENCE OF SPEECH

Black Star reunite for London show with help from De La Soul and Rakim

BlackStar-LA_Frolab

BLACK STAR IS BACK. Well, for the moment anyway, as Mos Def and Talib Kweli reunite for a one-off show in London this May – 13 years after they dropped their cult debut album: ‘Mos Def & Talkib Kweli Are Black Star’. Pretty much an unmissable show as it is, but throw in De La Soul, Rakim and a ton of special guests (The Roots? Q-Tip? Common?!) and you’re in for the show of your life.

Our homie and regular snapper Tim had the pleasure of being asked to exhibit some of his photography for ARTOUR-O in Florence over the weekend. What you might not know, is that Tim is also a music producer. And he got to incorporate some production work into the installation he put together.

ROYKSOPP’S BUG NIGHT OUT

A retrospective look at the Norwegian electronic music duo’s visual output (BFI Southbank, Fri 11th Feb 2011)

IMG_6308

This was the first ‘BUG’ event I’ve been to and, if this one’s anything to go by, consider me a convert of David Bellamy proportions. For the uninitiated, the sub-heading – ‘The Evolution of Music Video’ – gives you the gist.

EARNEST ENDEAVOURS 3

Daedelus, TOKiMONSTA, Starkey and Lazer Sword set to tear up the next EE party

pr_daedelus

Yep, those hardworking fellas at Earnest Endeavours are at it again. And this time, the lineup is every bit as strong as their previous 2 parties (Nosaj Thing at Pattern Cutters was damn near a perfect night for me). I’ve seen Daedelus a fair few times now, and I gotta say, the man kills it every time. With completely diverse sets too – his grasp of the dynamics of a set and how to keep a crowd engaged is superb. That whole Victorian dandy thing just adds to the weird – but awesome – experience.

VIDEOCRASH XXMAS SPECIAL

The audio-visual behemoth is back with a little help from Solid Steel

hexstatic3Dglasses

More audiovisual shennanigans from the Soundcrash boys in conjunciton with Solid Steel veterans Hexstatic, DJ Food & DK and DJ Cheeba to celebrate (although belatedly) Ninja Tune’s 20th anniversary last year. This event was actually supposed to take place last year, but got cancelled because of snow and the world ending (in England, anyway). So now it’s going down this coming Saturday! Something to look forward to on a dreary, wet, cold, grey day (in England, anyway).
